Sherry A. Tumbleson, age 58, of Lombard, Illinois, formerly of Huntington, died at approximately 6:30 p.m. Saturday (November 22, 2014) at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital in Elmhurst, Illinois.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. Sunday (November 30, 2014) in the Applegate Chapel at Heritage Pointe (UMMH), 801 Huntington Avenue, Warren, Indiana. Graveside services and burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday (December 1, 2014) in Star of Hope Cemetery with Rev. Marti Lundy officiating.

Sherry was born on January 23, 1956 in Huntington, the daughter of Gene and Jo Ann (Buzzard) Tumbleson. She graduated from Huntington North High School in 1974 and attended Purdue University where she earned her B.S. in home economics. She received her M.S. in educational leadership from Northern Illinois University and retired as a teacher from Proviso East High School in Maywood Illinois. She was recognized as the 2005 Illinois Outstanding Family and Consumer Science Teacher of the Year. She was a member of the Illinois chapter and National Association for Career and Technical Education. She is also the former president of both the Lakeshore Family and Consumer Science Association and the Illinois Family and Consumer Science Teachers’ Association. She was an avid reader and loved to travel.

Sherry is survived by her mother – Jo Ann Tumbleson of Huntington; one sister – Susie (Doug) Chapin of Huntington; one brother – Steve (Nancy) Tumbleson of Warren; five nieces and nephews, and several great nieces and great nephews. She is preceded in death by her father.
